At Lightning Rentals, we want paying your consumer lease to be simple, secure and easy to manage.
We offer several ways to make your regular lease payments. If you currently pay Lightning Rentals through Centrepay, there is an important change you need to know about: Centrepay is being removed as a payment option for household goods consumer leases.
The Australian Government is changing the types of goods and services that can be paid for using Centrepay. As part of these changes, household goods lease and rental payments are being removed from Centrepay. All household goods lease and rental Centrepay deductions will cease from 1 November 2026.
This means that if you currently pay your Lightning Rentals agreement through Centrepay, you need to arrange another payment method before your Centrepay payments stop. You do not need to wait until November. Lightning Rentals is helping customers transition now so their regular lease payments can continue without interruption.
If you currently pay through Centrepay, you will need to arrange a new payment method before your Centrepay deductions stop. If you do not arrange another way to make your payments, you may miss scheduled payments, fall into arrears and incur applicable fees in accordance with your agreement.
It is important to understand that the end of your Centrepay deductions does not mean your Lightning Rentals consumer lease ends. Centrepay is simply the payment method currently being used to make payments under your agreement. Your rental contract will continue, and you will still be required to make the payments due under your consumer lease until your agreement is completed or otherwise ends in accordance with its terms. We recommend checking your consumer lease agreement so you understand your remaining lease term, payment amount and payment schedule.
If you currently pay through Centrepay, you will need to arrange a new payment method before your Centrepay deductions stop. If you do not arrange another way to make your payments, you may miss scheduled payments, fall into arrears and incur applicable fees in accordance with your agreement.
To help avoid missed payments, please contact Lightning Rentals as soon as possible. Our team can help you transition from Centrepay to PayTo, our preferred payment method, and ensure your regular payments can continue.
Centrepay may be ending, but your consumer lease and your payment obligations continue. Contact Lightning Rentals today to arrange your new payment method.
Please contact Lucy on 0484 348 646 as soon as possible to transition your payments to PayTo.
Changing your payment method does not change your consumer lease agreement or the amount you are required to pay under your agreement. It simply changes how your scheduled payments are made.
PayTo is Lightning Rentals’ preferred payment method for regular consumer lease payments. PayTo is a modern payment service that allows you to authorise and manage a payment agreement through your participating bank or financial institution.
Instead of Lightning Rentals asking you to provide authority using a traditional direct debit form, a PayTo agreement is sent to your bank for you to review and authorise. Once approved, Lightning Rentals can collect your scheduled lease payments in accordance with the PayTo agreement.
If you currently use Centrepay to pay Lightning Rentals, we encourage you to transition to PayTo well before 1 November 2026. Moving early gives you time to set up and authorise your PayTo agreement and helps avoid disruption to your regular lease payments when Centrepay deductions end.
